Your 7 Must-Read Tips Before You Shop!

  1. Create a Budget! How much can you spend by just using cash not credit cards? Having a budget helps us stay on track so we don’t over spend.

2. Use a list as this helps you stay organized. Who do you need to shop for? What store do you need to go to or even online? How much does them item cost? Do you need to ship the presents?

3. If out of work or have less income this year, be ok with spending less. Few tips: Do a family gift exchange for a reasonable dollar amount that works for everyone’s budget. What are some DIY presents you can make? Brainstorm some fun ideas off Pinterest.

4. Shop Early: If you are planning doing online shopping, beware of delays in delivery this year so buy early.

5. Beware and protect yourself from Christmas online fraud: Check out the blog on Identity theft and protection against fraud. Click HERE Identity Theft!

6. Check for additional deals and discounts.

  • Some stores offer further discounts if you are a Senior or Military.

  •  Many stores have colored tag sales for that day or week so be on the lookout and purchase the colored tag items.

  • They may offer additional discounts if you sign up for the store’s email newsletter or membership. (Be cautious with this as this can create problems and can cause more spending.

7. If you can, avoid the weekend crowds. Shop mid-week instead!

  • Not only will you avoid the crowds and long lines to get in the store(some stores are limiting number of people they are letting in), you will also get a better selection to shop from.

  • Stores are usually re-stocked mid-week.

Hope these tips are helpful as you begin to plan for your Christmas Shopping!
