Journaling & the Benefits to our Health!

Have you struggled with disappointment and grief this last year? I know this year has been hard for so many of us. I want to send you my sympathy and condolences for any hard times you are enduring. May you be comforted by God and shown love by others. I too can relate as I have gone through a roller coaster of a year.

I thought I would share and talk about what has helped me.

Journaling has helps me reduce stress, my anxious thoughts, and to process areas of my life.

If you are anything like me, you may struggle with trying to process all that is happening or has happened in the past.  Maybe your mind is constantly spinning with racing thoughts, feeling anxious or even struggle with your sleep.

Journaling gives us a time and space to put our thoughts on paper.

Gratitude Journaling.  One of my favorite habits is writing out what I am thankful for.  Beginning the day with gratitude, give us a sense of greater joy, happiness and fulfillment.  I find being thankful for what I have helps me to be more content.   In this society its tempting to always want more. I have learned to treasure and appreciate what I already have.   I encourage you to give yourself time to write out what you are thankful for: Perhaps it’s your relationship with God, your family, friendships, health, work, or other joy’s happening.

DEVOTE YOURSELVES TO PRAYER, KEEPING ALERT IN IT WITH AN ATTITUDE OF THANKSGIVING. COLOSSIANS 4:2

Journal Your Prayer Requests:  All of us struggle at times with worry, fear and anxiety. Many of us struggle with how our needs will be met financially, and how to handle challenging situations. Several years ago, I began doing a prayer and worship journal. I would write daily and monthly my prayers needs, wants and also prayers for others. By doing this,  I have seen God show up in miraculous ways providing for me and those I prayed for.  I love looking back on my prayer journals and seeing the ways He answered prayers. I especially do this when my faith is a little shakey. Doing a prayer journal has been a space for me to build trust with God. If you want more on prayer and the power of it check out this blog: Power of Prayer.

Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. Philippians 4:6-7

Where to get journals?   Pretty much anywhere you can pick up a journal.  I get mine from several different places.  You can go inexpensive by getting one at the dollar store, goodwill, or even at ross for less than $5.00.

I also love them from Day Spring!
